As a group we were given the two word social projection and to come up with a list of ideas and concepts associated with them to later develop them into a finished photograph and idea. I was originally happy at the word social as it is quite tried as we could route of into any direction of society.

>Stereotyping - gender roles - typical womens/mens/ careers - cultural appropriation

>Life standards - how we individually perceived - prejudice - judgement - beauty expectations

>Poverty cycle - crime - wrong/right

>Social media -children and technology

>What is it to be Sociable? - unsociable - whats normal?

I think that Jenny Holzer is a relevant and strong public artist that has given us inspiration and supports our ideas with the designing of our posters. Holzer's work is printed is in cool, bold italic, of numerous one line statements which is a similar look and feel that we want our work to portray.

Holzer's work also ties into our title of not only social issues makes public as she has been know to state 'There is a fine line between information and propaganda', which are provocative to question and intrigue viewers, as we want to do so also. But also keeping the wording simple and short, for a punchy statement that is rememberable and to the point.

Katharine hamnett

We have taken inspiration for our posters for from Katherine Hamnet as she creates plain white t-shirts with bold black writing which stands out of the ordinary as we are so used to seeing colourful patterned and busy advertisement posters.

As a group we decided to not to for an obvious or too exposed social issue concept for this project that already has been made publicly aware, such as the categories of stereotyping or media. We came up with ideas of social actions that we do on a day to day basis but they are hardly talked about due to the way that big cities have evolved into. As traditionally even from small actions of saying hello to someone as you past them on the street was a very common and obvious thing to do, but now with distractions of technology and the sheer high number of people that we embrace on public transport this concept has become rare and almost weird.

This is an example of one of the four posters that we experimented with the public in our film as it related to how and if being unsociable exists as it is a rhetorical question to outs the ideas into our heads of whether we should be communicating more with people around us in our everyday lives. Also we positioned the writing in a non-central area of the poster as we wanted to push the limitations of making it look our of the ordinary even further as traditionally posters are centred and even.

We decided to create a few posters that not only are projected visually onto the streets in form of a image but also theoretically as referring to the definition of current evens predicted into the future. as we postponed the majority of our posters on the floor as we experimented why popular walk ways at busy times as people tend to look at the floor to see where they're going or if they are on their phone.

Outcome - Social Projection

Strangers project

I think that this project is relevant to my research as it ties into our main concept with our word of social as it is all about revealing and exposing things about our everyday lives that we don't typically talk about. Or even how stories or certain ways of our upbringing aren't made obvious as we all think differently and to make it obvious by communicating and sharing it.
